• Pros: Unrivalled tone for heavy sounds.
• Cons: Not recommended for clean settings.
• Overall: We were very surprised by Mark Tremonti signature pedal. It outgunned many supposedly superior pedals when it came to tone.
Mark Tremonti is well known for his work with Creed and Alter Bridge and has gathered many accolades from guitar publications all over the world, so it should come as no surprise to see his signature being added to Morley’s Wah range of pedals.
What was particularly interesting with this model was how you engage the effect. It has an electro-optical switchless design meaning when you take your foot of the pedal, it turns the effect off automatically. This took a bit of getting used to, but once you get the knack, it makes the pedal remarkably easy to use. It’s always nice to see little innovations crop up on pedals such as this.
Seeing Mark’s background, this Wah rocker is clearly aimed at high gain and distorted settings, so we weren’t entirely surprised to find that this sounded slightly cold on clean sounds. However, what it lacked in the clean arena, it more than made up for in the distorted sounds. Warm and beefy with great range and no squeaky highs, this pedal was absolutely huge on tone. With the boost kicked in, you can have an extra 20db of gain – nice to know it’s there when you need it!
Morley’s Mark Tremonti signature model really surpassed our expectations. Simple to use and with huge sound and quality tone, it was a real showstopper. When it comes to heavy sounds, the Mark Tremonti easily competes with anything else out there.
